As an AV Desk Volunteer, you'll be the central point for all things audio and visual during our services. Your responsibilities will include:
Livestream Management: Operating our cameras to deliver a high-quality livestream experience on YouTube for those joining us remotely. This involves selecting appropriate camera angles and ensuring a clear visual feed.
Presentation Control: Managing the PowerPoint or slideshow displayed on our screens, ensuring smooth transitions and the correct visuals are shown at the right time.
Sound System Management: Overseeing the sound system to ensure clear audio for both the congregation in the building and our online viewers. This may involve adjusting microphone levels and managing music playback.
Projector Control: Simply turning on our two projectors at the beginning of the service and turning them off at the end.
This role requires attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and a willingness to learn. Full training and support will be provided, and you'll be joining a friendly and dedicated team.
Want to learn more about what's involved? Please feel free to chat with one of our current AV Desk volunteers – they'd be happy to share their experiences!
Fancy making some joyful noise and becoming part of a unique tradition right here in Sutton? Our church is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our friendly team of bellringers! Imagine the satisfying sound of the bells ringing out across the town. You'll have the opportunity to learn this fascinating skill, with full training provided – no prior experience is necessary!
We get together for practice on Wednesdays from 7 pm to 8 pm. Then, on Sundays, you can contribute to the special atmosphere before our service, with ringing typically taking place around 5:30 pm to 6 pm.
As your skills develop, you'll even have the chance to ring for special occasions like weddings, funerals, and baptisms, adding a memorable soundtrack to these important life events. If you're looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity, a chance to learn a new skill, and to connect with a great group of people, we'd love to hear from you! Come along to a practice night or get in touch with our Bell Captain, David Reeves.
Do you enjoy being outdoors and contributing to the upkeep of our beautiful church grounds? We're looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to help us maintain a clean and tidy churchyard.
As a Churchyard Bin Maintenance Volunteer, your role will involve:
Emptying Churchyard Bins: On selected Sundays after the service, or at a time that suits your availability, you'll empty the various litter bins located around the churchyard.
Consolidating Waste: You'll then place the contents of these smaller bins into the main church bin.
Waste Disposal: Finally, you'll ensure the main bin is placed outside on Church Road for collection on Mondays.
This is a flexible volunteering opportunity that can fit around your schedule. It's a simple yet vital task that helps us keep our churchyard welcoming and presentable for everyone. If you're looking for a way to make a tangible difference with a minimal time commitment, this could be the perfect role for you!
Fancy being the friendly face or the helpful hand behind the scenes at our church services? We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our 'Duty Wardens & Welcomers' team!
As a Duty Warden, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our services run smoothly. This could involve tasks like counting attendees during a Sunday service, making sure everything is prepared before the service begins, and generally providing support where needed. If you're organised and enjoy contributing practically, this could be a great fit for you.
As a Welcomer, you'll be the first friendly face people see as they arrive. You'll be stationed at the main entrance, offering a warm greeting to everyone and helping to create a welcoming atmosphere right from the start. You might also be asked to hand out service sheets or other materials as people enter. If you're naturally friendly and enjoy meeting people, this could be a wonderful way to get involved.
No prior experience is necessary for either role – just a willingness to help and a friendly attitude!
Interested in finding out more? Please have a chat with our main church warden, Pam Baxter, who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
